BRIEF: Plans underway for O'Hara fishing rodeo for hospitalized veterans
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - 9/13/2017
Sept. 13--Plans are underway for the sixth annual Fishing Rodeo for Hospitalized Veterans in O'Hara.
John Santoriello, commander of VFW Post 3945 in Morningside, accepted his first donation for the event from Oakmont business owner, Greg Ionadi, of Smoke n' Guns.
The Morningside VFW hosts the event each May at Squaw Valley Park where more than 100 veterans are transported from VAPHS facilities to the picnic. They are offered fishing, lunch and prizes.
"The hospitalized vets cherish the day out with other veterans for camaraderie and friendship and it gives them a day out of the hospital," Santoriello said. "It makes their day better than the day before."
