MONTHLY EVENT Middleboro Elks hosts lunch for local veterans

MIDDLEBORO - Approximately 60 veterans enjoyed a baked chicken breast lunch as guests of Middleboro Lodge of the Elks 1274 on Thursday, May 18.

Richard Tex Washburn, Commander of John F. GLass, Jr., Post 2188 Veterans of Foreign Wars, led the group in the Pledge of Alligiance, while Richard Tinkham, Chaplain of the Elks Lodge, blessed the meal.

Among the many volunteers preparing and serving the meal were three students of READS Academy. They were Sergio Cook, Zach Davis and Jonathon Smith, who were accompanied by Mrs. Reid, teacher assistant and culinary specialist.

Chaplain Tinkham praised the students for their involvement with the luncheon.The Middleboro Elks host a free luncheon on the third Thursday of the month for the veterans as a special "thank you" for their military service.
