VETERANS: Deserve U.S. support

The Coeur d'Alene Press - 5/14/2017

This is my comment in response to a post made on Facebook regarding the closure of another veterans care center in Tonasket:

Future military service men and women, be aware of what the government is doing to all those benefits that have been promised to the military personnel who have come before you. They are slowly chipping away the benefits bit by bit. Men and women who have served and devoted their lives with the promise of education, health care and a retirement fund are getting government's back turned on them at a time in their lives that is too late for many if not most of them to go back to work in order to secure health benefits and financial security.

Make sure you know what you are signing up for and that you know those promises could be empty. This country needs a strong military that in turn upholds the care of its service people. Our seniors are also being left in the dust because of the robbed and mishandling of our Medicare system. America and its citizens first, then we can help, not coddle, our neighboring countries!
