Lonnie Wade Lowery Sr., a native of Collins, Miss., and resident of Gautier, Miss., died in Mobile, Ala. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the home of his son.

Lonnie was a 1954 graduate of Petal High School, received his degree in mathematics in 1962 from the University of Southern Mississippi and attended Loyola University, majoring in physics. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars; was a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 1992 in Gautier, MS; and was a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying and traveling. He retired from Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding after over 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason Wade Lowery and Verdie Lee Ivy Lowery; his wife of 46 years, Brenda Gayle Pittman Lowery; and his brothers, Jerry Wayne Lowery, William Glenn Lowery and Richard Donald Lowery. His survivors include his son, Lonnie Wade (Cassie) Lowery II; two grandsons, Andrew and Christian Lowery; two great-granddaughters, Keillie and Keira Lowery; and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Graveside services, with Air Force military honors, will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m.
