Local artist presents hand carved flag to Clay County Supervisor of Elections office

Florida Times-Union - 10/17/2019

Early this month local woodworker Brad Satcher presented an American flag he made to the Clay County Supervisor of Elections Chris H. Chambless. The flag was hand crafted from wood and its design was similar to that of the first official U.S. flag.

The carved flag displays 13 stars around the number 1776 and the Declaration of Independence is etched on the flag. According to the Clay Elections office, Satcher started carving and selling the patriotic flags in order to pay for his daughter's education. His original flags were intended to honor first responders and deceased veterans.

Now Satcher's flags have become so popular that he has designs for military, law enforcement, state legislators and organizations. His business is The Patriot's Barn and photos of his flags can be seen on his The Patriot Barn's Facebook page. Satcher is a retired and disabled NAVY veteran.
